Sheetmetal Aircraft Mechanic - LAX

Location & Salary Los Angeles, CA Salary: $35 - $48 per hour (based on experience) Job Duties Perform line maintenance (on-call and scheduled) on various customers' aircraft. Perform routine maintenance and airworthiness releases within the scope of Approval, returning aircraft to service. Service, inspect, and maintain aircraft, aircraft engines, and associated components to meet deadlines and performance goals. Troubleshoot systems; disassemble, repair, and reassemble sections and components per approved technical data. Ensure departing aircraft are safe according to FARs and manufacturer manuals, and document all work properly. Collaborate with the air carrier’s maintenance control center as required. Utilize specialized skills such as close tolerance hole drilling, countersinking, fastener installation, rivet shooting/bucking, trimming, micrometer and caliper use. Fabricate, assemble, and repair production sheet metal products and equipment per AMM, SRM, drawings, and specifications. Make sheet metal layouts; set up and operate fabricating machinery, and install for conformance to specifications. Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair aircraft structures and surfaces for modifications per technical manuals, engineering drawings, and FAA regulations. Basic Qualifications Current valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant License. 1-5+ years of relevant experience, including B747 & B777. Knowledge of aircraft structural fabrication, assembly, and installations. Valid driver’s license. Ability to frequently stand, walk, and use hand/finger dexterity; climb, balance, bend, crawl, occasionally from heights in precarious places. Ability to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds. Awareness of working around moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and loud noise exposure. Visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical information. Ability to work outside and in extreme heat or cold. Read and write English. Pass airport security background checks. Travel for work as required.
