Audit Manager - Asset & Wealth Management

Audit Manager – Asset and Wealth Management (Northern Trust) The Audit Manager is responsible for conducting and documenting audits across Asset and Wealth Management. This role leads audit project teams, provides oversight, and communicates results of engagements to management. The Audit Manager supplies technical expertise, training, and guidance to auditors within the engagement audit team and works closely with Senior Audit Managers to confirm the scope of the audit and devise an appropriate testing approach. Responsibilities Operate independently Design and lead audit execution – one or two audits simultaneously Verify test steps aligned with controls Work on more complex audits Contribute on other engagements outside lead role Mentor/coach junior staff Planning: propose audit scope, lead (AIC) more complex audit projects, develop testing approach, RCTM, and RCM, complete planning documents, complete all sections of PQ, hold budget meetings, delegate tests, lead walkthroughs and planning meetings Fieldwork: Responsible for ensuring audit engagement is meeting deadlines, complete highest complexity testing, lead discussions with stakeholders on testing findings, perform L1 reviews on low to moderate complexity tests, challenge issues and propose root cause Reporting: draft issues, draft report (including executive summary) Data Analytics: identify more complex DA opportunities and assist in implementation Issue Validation: perform testing, draft failure memo Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated professional skepticism and comfort with questioning processes to facilitate improvement Knowledge of audit/accounting principles typically obtained through related work experience and a four‑year degree program in a related subject area Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including effective business writing and presentation skills Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA) Experience College or university degree and 5+ years related work experience (auditing experience in a financial institution is preferred) Working Model Hybrid – balanced model between office and home work. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for future employment‑based visa sponsorship. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $83,100 – $141,300 USD (base pay).
