Finance Officer

Position Title: Business Officer II (S) Position Number: [Number Redacted] Grade: NC17 Location: NC DHHS – Public Health, Chronic Disease & Injury, 65 Moore Drive, Durham, NC. Hourly Rate: $34.00 (based on education and/or years of relevant work experience). This is a temporary position. No leave or retirement benefits are offered. Temporary employees working an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time. Responsibilities Prepare grant materials for submission. Prepare budgets, budget allocations, schedules, and forecasts. Oversee contracts processing from execution through invoicing and closure. Review federal grant expenditures. Review monthly invoices and expenses. Oversee travel planning and reimbursement. Assist with temporary order submissions. Assist with office management and organization. Complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Experience in financial and grant management, working with federal grant budgets and contracts. Competency with Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related discipline and three years of progressive related experience, two years of which should be in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective July1,2025, the minimum qualifications are met with the listed education and experience. Highly Preferred: Knowledge of state systems (North Carolina Financial Systems).
