Director of Accounting

Job Description

nsight Global is seeking a Director of Accounting to serve as the accounting leader dedicated exclusively to its Foundation operations. Originally scoped at a lower leadership level, the position was elevated to Director due to the complexity and growth of the Foundation organization. The company currently operates four foundations and expects to establish a fifth foundation in the near future. This individual will serve as the primary liaison between Finance, Foundation Presidents, and Foundation Boards while overseeing all Foundation accounting activities. The ideal candidate will bring deep nonprofit and foundation accounting expertise, strong experience with donor-restricted funds, grant accounting, foundation financial reporting, and board-facing communication. This person will be expected to operate independently, lead Foundation accounting operations, and help build scalable processes as the Foundation organization continues to grow.

Skills and Requirements

• Foundation and nonprofit accounting experience with responsibility for Foundation accounting operations

• Experience supporting complex Foundation environments involving:

○ Fund accounting

○ Donor-restricted funds and restricted assets

○ Grant accounting, reporting, and reconciliations

○ Multiple funding sources

• Experience overseeing Foundation financial reporting, financial statement preparation, month-end close, and Foundation reconciliations

• Experience presenting financial results, variance analysis, and accounting updates to Foundation leadership, executive stakeholders, and governing boards

• Experience supporting Foundation Boards and Board reporting requirements

• Experience leading accounting teams and developing accounting staff

• Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, nonprofit financial reporting, and Foundation governance

• Experience supporting medium-to-large Foundation environments ($30M-$50M+ preferred)

• Ability to independently serve as the primary accounting leader supporting Foundation operations

Blackbaud experience: donor management, fund accounting and nonprofit reporting • Previous Director of Accounting experience

• CPA certification

• Workday experience

• Experience managing bequests

• Experience supporting donor-funded programs
