Custodian I

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Janitor in Atlanta, GA to provide cleaning and upkeep of an assigned area for an industrial & office facility. This is a full‑time position. Working hours are Monday – Friday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. The hourly rate is $16.00 per hour plus a competitive benefits package. Daily duties and responsibilities Cleans and maintains buildings/facilities. Performs heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. Notifies managers regarding the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems. Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with clients, co‑workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers, etc. Complies with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities. Flexibly completes all tasks assigned. Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. Utilizes ladders, dusts and washes furniture, walls, blinds and select equipment; cleans ceilings and dusts light fixtures and ceiling vents. Removes stains from surfaces such as carpet, drapes/shades, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions. Prepares cleaning solutions per specifications. Strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors. Cleans and vacuums carpeted areas, including application of spot‑cleaning treatment. Gathers trash and empties in appropriate trash and recycling bins. Wipes and cleans tabletops, chairs, refrigerators, microwaves, etc. Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures. Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms. Cleans interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors. Keeps janitor’s closet neat and orderly and maintains equipment in good working order. Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and possibly checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. Drives vehicles (if required) to perform or travel to other facilities to clean, including vans, industrial trucks, golf carts, or industrial vacuum cleaners. Provides special cleaning and support during client events, as needed. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Minimum of a completed HS Diploma or GED certificate. Relevant experience in industrial or commercial cleaning. Knowledge of applicable safety policies and procedures (SDS, OSHA). Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location. Ability to work an alternative schedule to include weekends and some holidays. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility/security credentials/authorization. US citizenship or permanent residency required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. May require a valid driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Physical/Special Requirements Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach and wrist movement. Walk extensively during shift. Regularly lift up to 30 lbs. Work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions. Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to color‑coded microfiber cleaning clothes and mops. Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed. Cope with demands (stressors) associated with the job and/or the work environment. Preferred Requirements English. Compensation Details Hourly rate: $16.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable laws.
