Adjunct Faculty - Journalism

The Department of Communication is seeking adjunct faculty members to develop and teach undergraduate courses in our growing journalism program. The Department seeks candidates with professional experience in journalism. Prior teaching experience is a plus. A master’s degree (M.A., M.F.A. or M.B.A.) or commensurate professional experience is required. Areas of Expertise news reporting news writing feature writing social/digital media management audio and television production intersections between these areas Teaching Responsibilities media law and ethics news literacy journalism advanced reporting journalism field studies reporting through social media press and the presidency podcasting mobile journalism sports writing journalism capstone other courses as department needs dictate Course sections may be during the day, night, weekends, or online. Qualifications passion for journalism understanding of the evolving news media landscape dedication to helping students succeed in a complex and competitive environment commitment to teaching diverse populations professional experience in journalism master’s degree (M.A., M.F.A., M.B.A.) or equivalent experience prior teaching experience (preferred) Compensation New employees: $2100 per credit Employees with 13+ semesters at WP: $2175 per credit This position may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health and dental insurance and retirement plans.
