DESCRIPTION:

A prestigious private estate in San Francisco is seeking an experienced, highly structured Private Chef to oversee daily culinary operations for the Principal and lead execution for private events. This full-time position requires a seasoned professional proficient in refined, fresh, local, hyper-seasonal, and elegantly uncomplicated cuisine (think Chez Panisse). This role offers a rare, long-term opportunity within a stable culinary environment, replacing a beloved chef of nearly a decade who is departing for family reasons. Immediate start preferred. Local candidates only. Relocation is not offered at this time. 

Core Responsibilities —

• Daily Meal Preparation: Prepare precise, highly consistent dinners for the Principal (served promptly at 6:00 PM). Maintain strict adherence to preferred dietary formulas on solo dining nights.
• Menu Planning: Write seasonal, farm-to-table menus twice weekly for nightly dinners, and private dinner parties as needed.
• Entertaining & Events:
• Host seated or buffet-style dinners 2x per week for 4–12 guests (family, friends, and small receptions), collaborating with service staff.
• Oversee planning, sourcing, and execution for 1 major annual event (200–300 guests) alongside sporadic seasonal receptions.
• Kitchen & Team Management: Schedule and manage part-time culinary staff, weekend chefs, and pastry chefs. Authority to bring in trusted sub- contractors/colleagues for large-scale events.
• Sourcing & Inventory: Perform all grocery sourcing and vendor management for dinners and special events, prioritizing top-tier Bay Area purveyors.

Position Details & Schedule —

• Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 hour mid shift starting at either 10 or 11am.
• Holidays: Mandatory coverage for all major holidays.
• Support: Zero cleaning or dishwashing duties required; full household support staff on site.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven experience as a Private Chef in a high-end private residence.
• Holiday Availability
• Deep mastery of Northern California, market-driven, seasonal cooking.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing kitchen teams and scheduling auxiliary staff.
• Exceptional time management, reliability, and respect for strict household routines.
• Local San Francisco Bay Area candidates preferred for immediate, seamless onboarding.
• US work authorization.
