STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: AI Educator Ambassador (SY26-27)
$5,000 per monthBoston Public Schools
AI Educator Ambassador (SY 26-27) Boston Public Schools envisions a thoughtful and strategic integration of artificial intelligence across both instructional practices and district operations to support district priorities. This initiative operates within BPS's broader AI policy and governance structure, not as a separate strategy. The philanthropic investment from Paul English provides momentum for BPS's vision; the overall direction and decisions are driven by BPS. The AI Educator Ambassador is a stipended instructional role based in secondary schools serving grades 9-12, at minimum. The AI Educator Ambassador will model best practices and facilitate the growth of AI literacy for both staff and students using AI as a tool to strengthen how they plan, differentiate, and deliver instruction. Key responsibilities include completing required prework and summer professional learning, delivering the BPS foundational AI literacy lesson sequence to students, collaboratively designing and delivering AI centered professional development opportunities and community facing events, including a district-wide Hackathon. The AI Educator Ambassador will act as a liaison between district-level AI literacy initiatives and classroom practice. The candidate will work closely with their school, the Offices of Technology, Teaching and Learning, & College, Career, and Life Readiness, the Paul English Applied AI Institute at UMass Boston, and other identified industry and higher education partners to support this work. Our goal is AI literacy, not necessarily AI use. Students will always have an option to complete assignments without using AI tools, just as teachers will always have an option to design lessons without using AI tools. How AI Educator Ambassadors Are Selected Stipend is posted and applications open Candidates apply by submitting a resume, a document answering three questions, and providing references. The three questions are: Describe a specific time when you had to coach or facilitate professional development for an adult learner (or a group of colleagues) who was highly resistant to adopting a new technology or pedagogical approach. What strategies did you use to build trust, address their specific hesitation, and guide them toward adoption? Reflecting on that experience, how will you tailor your approach to support secondary school teachers at your current school who are worried that AI integration will compromise academic integrity or student critical thinking? Building trust across a school community (students, staff, and families) takes planning and execution. How have you demonstrated reliability and follow-through in your previous roles when bridging the gap between planning a program and successfully delivering it to a diverse community? Submit an artifact that demonstrates evidence of how you have built the capacity of students, colleagues or community members for a specific skill or understanding. How did you determine what your audience needed to know? How did you structure the learning to meet this need? What evidence of impact did you collect? How did this experience inform your ongoing practice? BPS scores applications on a rubric BPS interviews candidates BPS conducts reference checks with principals Candidates are selected and notified Stipend Program Requirements And Deliverables The program runs from August 14, 2026 to June 30, 2027 with a stipend totaling $5,000 (approximately 83 hours).
