Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) / Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a day shift from 6:45 AM to 7:00 PM.

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing pulmonary care to critically ill, non-critical, and chronically ill patients across adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations. Working under the supervision of a physician, the RRT will perform patient assessments, implement respiratory care plans, and conduct various technical and diagnostic procedures throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations, including Code Blue and Code White.
• Perform airway management techniques, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
• Administer aerosolized medications and manage ventilators.
• Conduct oral hygiene and airway supporting device management.
• Deliver oxygen therapy using various devices and monitor therapeutic responses.
• Analyze chest films and conduct blood gas collection and analysis.
• Conduct EKG analysis and ensure accurate documentation of procedures.
• Assist in CAP and JC surveys and maintain cleanliness and stocking of equipment.
• May function as Shift Leader or Team Leader.
• Advanced practice skills may include therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, and bronchoscopy assistance.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1-3 years of experience preferred.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the NBRC required.
• RT or RCP license in the state of Texas required.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• NRP certification required.
