DESCRIPTION The Service Line Leader provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for the Otolaryngology service line across the health system. Working in partnership with physician leadership, nursing leadership, and executive administration, this position develops and executes strategies to improve growth, patient access, quality, operational performance, financial stewardship, and patient experience across all ENT specialty programs. The Service Line Leader provides oversight of practice operations while leading long-term strategic planning, program development, market expansion, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Strategic Leadership Develop and implement strategic plans supporting growth of Otolaryngology services. Identify opportunities for new clinical programs, market expansion, and service development. Lead business planning and implementation of new initiatives. Operational Oversight Provide oversight of practice managers and operational leaders. Establish operational goals and monitor key performance indicators. Standardize workflows across multiple locations. Financial Leadership Develop operating budgets. Monitor revenue, expenses, productivity, access metrics, and financial performance. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and margin. Physician Partnership Partner with Department Chair, Medical Directors, Division Chiefs, and faculty leadership. Support physician recruitment, onboarding, and practice growth. Collaborate on faculty practice operations. Access & Growth Improve access to care across all subspecialties. Lead referral optimization initiatives. Expand regional access and community partnerships. Quality Support quality improvement initiatives. Monitor clinical outcomes and patient experience. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Leadership Mentor managers and supervisors. Lead cross-functional teams. Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Eleven (11) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus seven (7) years of related experience/training in business administration including four (5+) or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience. Experience and proven success in clinic/center management experience, with progressive expertise in practice management, scheduling, customer-service methods, incident reporting, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and information technology. Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and delegate work functions efficiently. Demonstrated managerial skills and human resources management knowledge, including staff deployment, resource utilization, budgeting and financial management, quality improvement, and program planning and implementation. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills to convey complex information, instructions, and guidelines in a clear, concise, and specific manner, and to influence and persuade all levels of staff. Knowledge of relevant healthcare and clinic operations information technology, including billing systems and patient care workflows and processes. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related field). Experience leading ambulatory specialty service lines. Experience within an academic health system. Experience in Otolaryngology, Audiology, Neurosciences, Surgery, or other procedural specialties. Experience with physician practice management. Experience in a unionized environment. Experience managing budgets, strategic initiatives, and capital planning. Lean or Six Sigma certification. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $111,300 - $211,100 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $53.30 - $101.10 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
