Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site Development Associate role based in Detroit, MI. The Development Associate will support all stages of real estate development projects, including initial site evaluation, due diligence, and financial analysis. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include conducting market and demographic research, preparing pro‑formas and project reports, assisting with financing applications, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners such as architects, consultants, and contractors. The role will also involve supporting fundraising and investor relations efforts through preparing presentations, updating project status materials, and assisting with stakeholder communications. Additional tasks may include attending community and partner meetings, tracking project timelines and milestones, and contributing to process improvements that enhance project delivery and outcomes. Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, landowners, community stakeholders, investors, and external partners. Solid analytical skills and research capabilities to evaluate sites, markets, and project feasibility, and to support data‑driven decision‑making. Clear written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports, presentations, proposals, and other project documentation. Experience or interest in fundraising activities, including supporting grant applications, investor outreach, and capital‑raising efforts. Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Proficiency with spreadsheets and basic financial modeling; familiarity with real estate development or construction terminology is a plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Commitment to equitable community development and a demonstrated interest in urban revitalization, particularly in Detroit or similar markets. Compensation and Benefits This role carries a salary of $95,000 per year. Woodborn Partners has thoughtfully set this figure to reflect the scope of the role and the value it brings to the team.
