About the Position

Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiology License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills Cardiac post-procedural experience Comfortable with titrating medications such as Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, Sotalol, Tirofiban Description: The RN position in the PCU is for a specialized unit with 28 beds and an average census of 26. Patient types include acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, and patients post cardiac catheterization. The RN will also care for patients undergoing arrhythmia management and vascular procedures. Patient ratio will vary from 1:4 to 1:5. Support staff includes CNAs for vital signs and blood glucose checks. Additional support includes a receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, and respiratory therapy available 24/7. Nurses are responsible for monitoring telemetry strips. The unit promotes a family atmosphere with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
