Assistant Controller POST NUMBER: 469892

We are recruiting an Assistant Controller for a company in the Raleigh area.  This role is a key leadership role within the accounting function, overseeing the preparation of financial statements and managing the month-end close process.  This individual partners cross-functionally to enhance reporting quality, strengthen internal controls, and drive process improvements.  Great opportunity for a hands-on leader who operates with minimal supervision while guiding a high-performing accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly close process and ensure the accurate and timely preparation of internal and consolidated financial statements.
• Oversee account reconciliations and ensure appropriate review procedures are completed each reporting cycle.
• Manage and develop the general accounting team, including coaching, performance oversight, and succession planning.
• Support quarterly and annual reporting requirements, including preparation of external financial statements and coordination of the year-end audit process.
• Research and resolve complex accounting matters, providing technical guidance to the team and ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
• Strengthen and maintain internal controls, while identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Partner with leadership on special projects, cash management activities, and broader financial initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA is required.
• 8 years of progressive accounting experience.  A mix of public accounting and corporate accounting is ideal
• At least two years of leadership experience overseeing and developing accounting teams.
• Strong understanding of technical accounting, financial reporting and consolidations
