The School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, or actual or perceived gender identity, consistent with the nondiscrimination standards outlined in our employee benefit and policy documents. Head Athletic Trainer Maclay School | Full-Time, 12-Month Position Maclay School seeks an experienced, consistent, and highly relational Head Athletic Trainer to oversee the health and safety of student-athletes across our athletics program. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this role is central to ensuring that every practice, game, and competition takes place with the highest standard of care, from injury prevention through rehabilitation and return to play. The Head Athletic Trainer is expected to be a constant, trusted presence across the full athletics calendar. This is a year-round position with a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, early mornings, and summer months. Coverage follows the athletics calendar rather than the academic calendar or a standard business day. This role requires close partnership with coaches, the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, school health personnel, and the Athletic Director to build the systems, protocols, and relationships that keep student-athletes safe and supported. Responsibilities Schedule and Coverage Provide athletic training coverage at all practices and home competitions throughout the academic year, including in-season, off-season, and summer programming. Work a schedule that regularly includes weekday evenings and weekends, and that includes early morning hours for before-school practices, workouts, and treatment sessions. Provide coverage during summer months, including summer workouts, conditioning programs, camps, and preseason practices. Summer is an active work period for this position, not a break in service. Travel to select away competitions and postseason events as determined by the Director of Athletics. Maintain flexibility to adjust hours in response to schedule changes, weather delays, postseason play, and event cancellations. Athletic Training and Student-Athlete Care Oversee the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries, maintaining accurate and current records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation plans. Partner with the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator on rehabilitation protocols and return-to-play decisions. Communicate regularly with coaches and parents regarding athletes under care and those medically cleared to compete. Health Records and Compliance Verify, review, and organize student physicals, FHSAA athletic clearance profiles, health records, and release forms in coordination with school health personnel. Maintain an effective, efficient, and well-organized athletic training room. Safety Protocols and Department Partnership Partner with the Athletic Department in developing on-field safety protocols, including emergency action plans, severe weather plans, and concussion protocols, supporting the Director of Athletics in making final determinations on event safety and adjustments or cancellations. Examine existing processes, policies, and recurring problems, offering solutions that strengthen the department’s safety and care systems. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Qualifications Current BOC certification and eligibility for licensure in Florida (to be obtained prior to start date). A master’s degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program is preferred. Demonstrated competency in the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in athletic training. Practical athletic training experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with coaches, athletes, school nurses, parents, and others as needed. Technology literacy and proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet use, presentation software, and smart board technology. A strong desire to mentor students through the avenue of athletic training. Availability and willingness to work the evening, weekend, early morning, and summer schedule described above. The Successful Candidate Will Be A balanced, trusted presence whom student‑athletes, coaches, and families rely on for safe, high‑quality care. A partner to coaches, parents, student‑athletes, school health personnel, and athletics leadership. A systems-builder who can examine existing protocols and recommend improvements. Committed to exhibiting Maclay’s core values and mission in daily work. Physical Requirements and ADA Statement This role requires work primarily in gymnasiums and on fields, with secondary time spent in an office setting. Physical demands include lifting up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds intermittently, and up to 50 pounds rarely; carrying up to 10 pounds often, up to 25 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds intermittently; occasional climbing, balancing, and crawling; intermittent pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crouching; regular reaching, bending, and stooping; and frequent sitting, walking, and standing. The role requires the ability to work for extended periods at a computer, and to talk, hear, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods, with normal manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions; requests should be submitted to the HR department. #J-18808-Ljbffr NATA
