Middle School Science Teacher

Job Details: City of Potomac, MD 20854; Position Type: Full Time; Education Level: 4‑Year Degree; School: Bullis School; Academic Year: 2026‑27. Middle School Science Teacher – Responsibilities Teach five classes per academic year. Serve as student advisor and participate in extracurricular activities. Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the school’s instructional philosophy. Collaborate with science colleagues to advance department goals and initiatives. Participate and collaborate with teachers and subject‑area experts on grade‑level and interdisciplinary teams. Use technology to enhance students’ active, experiential, and hands‑on learning. Create learning environments that encourage risk‑taking and deep learning for students with a range of learning abilities using a variety of methods and technology. Utilize laboratory notebooks, lab practica, and authentic assessments to assess students’ content and laboratory skills. Apply reflection and feedback aimed at continued growth in teaching and working with students. Collaborate with grade‑level colleagues to develop project‑based learning opportunities. Remain current in pedagogical practices and field‑related trends. Attend Middle School divisional, social studies department, grade‑level, and interdisciplinary team meetings. Communicate with parents, school counselors, and administrators on students’ progress. Design and implement assessments that measure progress toward academic standards and provide timely feedback. Use the student learning management system to provide timely feedback, grades, and assignments. Other Duties Other tasks as assigned by the Head of Middle School. Education and Experience Required : Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Education, or related field. Minimum of two years prior teaching experience. Preferred : Master’s Degree in Science, Education, or related field. Proficiency with Windows or Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing, and media software.
