Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantStarting Pay $55,000/yr, plus Bonus.The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting function through month-end close activities, account reconciliations, billing and accounts receivable administration, credit card administration, reporting, and general accounting support. Additional responsibilities include supporting payroll, treasury, tax compliance activities, and operational reporting. This position works closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure accurate financial records and timely completion of accounting processes.Primary ResponsibilitiesMonth-End Closing ResponsibilitiesPrepare standard month-end and year-end journal entries assigned by management.Complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for management.Payroll SupportProvide backup support to the payroll process as needed.Assist with payroll reviews and reporting.Treasury and Cash ManagementAdminister the company credit card program, including user maintenance and monitoring.Assist with daily cash management activities and related reporting.Detergent and Utility AnalysisPrepare and maintain detergent and utility usage reports.Monitor trends and identify unusual variances for management review.Assist with processing utility invoices and maintaining utility tracking.Taxes and Business FilingsAssist with preparation of sales, use, and commercial activity tax filings.Assist with administration of property tax payments and records for multiple locations.Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for tax filings.Accounts Receivable and BillingPrepare recurring customer invoices and account billings.Process customer payments and maintain accurate accounts receivable records.Reconcile customer accounts and investigate billing discrepancies.Accounts Payable and Purchasing SupportProvide backup support to Accounts Payable and Purchasing functions.Assist with invoice coding, processing, and related accounting activities.Reporting and Administrative SupportPrepare recurring accounting and operational reports.Assist with special projects and information requests.Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company record retention requirements.Additional ResponsibilitiesComplete other duties and special projects as assigned.Comply with all company policies and procedures.Required Work ScheduleFull-Time (40 Hours)In-Person, in office position (Loveland, OH)Work Week Consisting of Monday-FridayMinimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent required.Experience: 0 to 3 years of prior or related experience.Reasoning, Development and General AbilitiesAbility to deal with practical problems and implement appropriate solutions.Ability to understand basic accounting principles and financial statements.Ability to operate general office equipment, including making photocopies, sending/receiving mail, scanning, and emailing documentsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Mathematical DevelopmentAbility to perform basic math, along with working with fractions, graphs, ratios and percentages.Language DevelopmentAbility to read product manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; using understandable English.Ability to speak with poise and confidence and/or effectively deal with customers.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are preferred.Computer and Software Application Knowledge or SkillsRequired:Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.Preferred:Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL or similar ERP system.Experience with account reconciliations and month-end close activities.Experience working with accounting systems and reporting toolsPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
