Day Shift Office Registered Nurse - Primary Care The Office Registered Nurse will serve as a clinical resource for incoming callers and the referral staff and will function in a supervisory role within this department. All knowledge and technical ability utilized will be in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act, Halifax Health, and the Department Policies and Procedures. Responsibilities Serve as the clinical resource and liaison for incoming callers, referral department staff, physicians, and other staff. Answer, assess, and triage incoming calls; help determine the urgency for patients to be seen based on clinical information and consultation with referring and receiving physicians. Maintain confidentiality in communications regarding patients and staff. Open communication with physicians, staff, and referring offices to ensure patients are triaged appropriately. Respond to caller voicemail within 24 business hours. Register and schedule new patients accordingly; complete new patient checklists in the electronic medical records system. Handle a high volume of incoming phone calls appropriately and efficiently, effectively triaging whenever appropriate. Qualifications Currently licensed or eligible for RN licensure in the State of Florida. Bachelor's degree, diploma, or associate degree from an accredited School of Nursing. Current CPR certification. One year or more of hospital or clinic setting experience preferred. Prior experience with phone triage and call response. Professionalism in interpersonal communication skills with patients, patient families, colleagues, physicians, and ancillary departmental personnel. Personal professional development, accountability, organization, and leadership in the performance of professional nursing practice. Strong computer and application skills, including MS Office. Ability to provide competent clinical knowledge as evidenced by schooling and previous experience.
