Location: Fully Remote Reports To: Controller

Position Overview: The Accounting Manager will serve as a key contributor within the accounting function, supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and technical accounting activities during an important transition period for the organization. This is a highly hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working directly in the accounting detail, solving problems, and helping build scalable processes in a growing environment. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in general accounting, ASC 606 revenue recognition, audit support, and close management within a dynamic environment. This position will work closely with the Controller and external partners to support accurate financial reporting, process improvements, and operational initiatives as the organization transitions to a simplified single-entity structure. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being deeply involved in the accounting function itself rather than managing a large team or pursuing a near-term move into upper management.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Assist with financial statement preparation and GAAP-based reporting
• Maintain organized and audit-ready supporting documentation
• Assist with general ledger maintenance and balance sheet integrity

Revenue Recognition (ASC 606)

• Support and refine revenue recognition processes in accordance with ASC 606
• Partner with operations to validate assumptions, estimates, and project completion metrics
• Develop and maintain supportable documentation and revenue analyses
• Assist in improving visibility between invoicing activity and recognized revenue

Payroll & Employee-Related Accounting

• Assist with payroll processing and payroll-related reconciliations
• Support payroll journal entries, accruals, and reporting accuracy
• Coordinate with HR and external payroll providers as needed

Audit & Compliance

• Support external audit requests and preparation of audit schedules
• Assist with preparation of technical accounting support and documentation
• Participate in maintaining and improving accounting processes and controls
• Assist with lender reporting and compliance support as needed

Tax & Regulatory Support

• Assist with coordination of federal and state tax filings with external tax preparers
• Gather supporting information and respond to tax-related information requests
• Support accounting consistency and documentation across legal entities during transition activities

Process Improvement & Special Projects

• Participate in process improvement initiatives and workflow documentation
• Assist in building scalable accounting and reporting processes
• Support cash flow forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis projects
• Assist with transition-related accounting and operational initiatives as the company simplifies its legal entity structure

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 510+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong hands-on accounting and close experience
• Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition
• Experience supporting external audits
• Experience with payroll processing and related accounting
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement reporting
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred

• CPA preferred
• MBA preferred
• Experience with income tax support and coordination with external tax preparers
• Experience in healthcare, professional services, or project-based accounting environments
• Experience supporting organizational transitions or simplification efforts
• Prior experience working in a private equity-backed environment
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, ADP, and timekeeping systems
