Grants and Contracts Officer II

Job Description – Grants and Contracts Officer II (26000792) Overview Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University is a leading policy school dedicated to addressing social and economic challenges. The role supports the school’s research programs through grant and contract administration. Responsibilities Pre‑award administration: develop and manage grant proposals and budgets; ensure compliance with sponsor and university guidelines; guide PIs on administrative requirements; route proposals for approval. Post‑award administration: route award notices; handle advance accounts; process re‑budgeting; conduct monthly expenditure reviews; prepare journal entries; manage allowable costs; support PIs throughout award lifecycle; create financial projections and status reports; process subcontract payments. Research administration & liaison responsibilities: liaise with faculty, department heads, legal counsel, Office of Research, URSA and OSPA; communicate new developments; present updates at staff meetings. Faculty & research staff support: provide technical assistance and guidance; deliver training to staff on research administration. Award & sponsored activity management: maintain award database; track activities; review award documents throughout lifecycle. Effort reporting & compliance: coordinate effort reporting; collaborate with departments for deadlines; serve as pre‑reviewer for faculty portfolios; resolve discrepancies. Departmental research administration support: fill in for departmental research administrator during leave/vacancy; provide pre‑ and post‑award support until replacement. Qualifications Minimum: Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience; or combination of education and experience.
