ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing services to critically ill patients during their hospital stay.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
• Monitor vital signs and patient condition, interpreting telemetry strips as needed.
• Administer medications and titrate intravenous drips, including cardiac and insulin drips.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Perform assessments and document patient progress accurately and timely in the electronic health record system.
• Assist in advanced procedures such as post-stent care and pacemaker placements.
• Ensure compliance with safety and infection control policies, including adherence to the fingernail policy.

Patient Care Information

The ICU unit consists of 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients, maintaining nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3. The unit cares for a variety of diagnoses including trauma, cardiac events, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress, and more.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Experience in an ICU setting is preferred.

Scheduling Information

Shifts are 12 hours, with options for both daytime and nighttime. Self-scheduling is available for core staff, and travelers may be included in the rotation. Weekend coverage is required every other week, as well as a minimum of two holidays during the contract period.

Orientation and Training

New employees will undergo a unit-specific orientation lasting one shift, with ongoing training and assessments provided as necessary.

Additional Information

Candidate availability for additional days off must be communicated upfront, with a limit of seven days per contract. Additional requests beyond this will not be approved. Floating to other units such as PCU or MedSurg may occur based on staffing needs.
