Essential Functions
The Talent Acquisition & Development Specialist is responsible for developing and executing diverse & inclusive recruitment strategies that ensure hiring goals are met with the best possible talent. To do so, the Specialist sources, attracts, recruits, screens, interviews, hires, and onboards candidates to fill organizational roles. This includes consulting with hiring managers to understand roles, ideal candidate profiles, and informing candidates of job duties, responsibilities, compensation, benefit package, and career advancement opportunities.
The Talent Acquisition & Development Specialist also assists with developing and administering Human Resources programs and compensation equity such as new hire orientations, learning and development initiatives, training programs, and organizational assessments and compensation management platforms designed to build engagement and commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Food Bank. The role may also support the preparation and extension of job offers and notify applicants of selection outcomes. All activities must be in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity laws, FSLA, HIPAA, ERISA, and other regulations, as appropriate.
What You'll Do
Talent Attraction, Recruitment, and Hiring Operations: Coordinate the full cycle recruiting process including; working with hiring managers to define hiring needs, create job advertisements, source internal and external candidates, review applications, screen candidates, schedule and conduct interviews, document notes and feedback, extend offer letters, perform background checks, and update the hiring manager and candidate during pre-boarding. Evaluate recruiting and onboarding practices to design and execute effective recruiting strategies that are non-discriminatory and promote inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA). Execute the Food Bank's internal site visit and other onboarding programs, coordinating with hiring managers as needed. Schedule and conduct exit interviews. Document feedback and share insights with the Human Resources team and all other stakeholders. Attend internal and external events on behalf of the Human Resources team at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, serving as a representative and showcasing the organization's HR initiatives and opportunities. This may include participation in vendor sponsored events, job fairs, training, etc.
Onboarding, Employee Experience, and Engagement: Liaise with the Information Technology team, hiring managers, and Operations team to ensure new hires have an assigned workspace (if applicable) and the proper equipment and access for their first day. Work with HR/Payroll Coordinators to create a welcoming environment for new hires. Provide new hires with Welcome Kits, conduct & coordinate benefits orientations, create employee badges and parking permits, and administer the new hire Welcome Email series. Announce and introduce new employees to all staff via email and update the organizational chart and staff extension list. Work with the Administrative Assistants and Human Resources team to coordinate and facilitate new hire orientations and benefits orientation. Administer learning resources and programs including LinkedIn Learning, SkillPath/Star12, Learning Allowance, Mineral, and Toastmasters. Promote, and recommend training & development resources to employees, including language learning. Assist with administering the annual employee engagement survey, including the creation of prompts and scheduling teams for timely completion. Coordinate and participate in various Food Bank committees and councils. Coordinate and order logo apparel for public-facing staff and leadership
HR Systems, Compliance, Analytics, and Continuous Improvement: Enter new hire information into the cloud-based compensation management platform, HRIS, ADP WorkforceNow, and support new hires through the onboarding process. Create, assign, and edit new onboarding documents. Utilize cloud-based compensation management platform, HRIS/ATS such as ADP WorkforceNow, Payfactors software, Asana or similar project management sites and digital tools effectively, demonstrating adaptability to new systems, applications, and technology updates. Work with the Talent & Culture Development team and other stakeholders to develop and implement new training programs or improve current programs as needed. Assist with conducting analysis of team processes by facilitating focus groups, employee interviews, and/or surveys. Identify root problems and work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop innovative solutions. Stay up to date on all legal compliance requirements relevant to the position's scope of work. Consult with the Human Resources team as needed. Assist with quarterly and ad-hoc reports/dashboards for recruitment, training, and engagement data. Maintain and audit personnel files for current and terminated employees according to protocol. May support Front Desk Administrative Assistant as needed. All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Human Resource Management or related field and up to 5 years of experience in recruitment, learning & development, or similar role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance, coaching, and support to others as needed or redirect them to appropriate and designated HR staff team members and managers.
- Good understanding of current technology trends, artificial intelligence learning and usage requirements, with an interest in tech tools collaboration efforts.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence; strong social skills and self-awareness with an astute ability to empathize with stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral; ability to communicate with diverse groups of people.
- Excellent presentation skills and content curation in support of the Food Bank's Learning and Development Programs through PowerPoint, Talent LMS, LinkedIn Learning, training materials, etc.
- Excellent time management skills; must be able to organize, prioritize, and plan tasks or assignments to meet deadlines.
- Ability to assess applicants' knowledge, skills, and experience to best suit open positions.
- Handles complex recruitment and HR Program responsibilities with a high degree of independence and judgement
- Possess expert knowledge of talent acquisition process and HR best practices.
- Possess a growth mindset; Demonstrate a passion for learning, curiosity, and open-mindedness.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) with working knowledge of HRIS systems such as Payfactors, Lattice, ADP, etc.
- Excellent flexibility and ability to learn and adapt to new processes and software and change direction as necessary
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- Valid CA Driver's License and access to a reliable and insured vehicle. Required to travel within Los Angeles County. May be scheduled to work at either facility in Los Angeles, CA, or the City of Industry, CA
