Bilingual Legal Assistant

De Wit Immigration Law is hiring a bilingual (English/Spanish) Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and paralegals remotely. You will work on real cases for investors and professionals from around the world who are building their careers and companies in the United States. This role offers more than document handling. You will be the primary point of contact for our active clients and learn how business immigration cases move from consultation to approval. If you have relevant experience or are talented and motivated to learn, we will teach you the ins and outs of business immigration and immigration-related federal litigation practice. This is a remote position for candidates based in Latin America. You will join our team as an international independent contractor. Compensation is $1,400 to $2,400 monthly (USD), depending on experience. Benefits: This is an international engagement. 15 days of PTO per year, 10 paid holidays, and a paid day off on your birthday. Responsibilities: Serve as a primary point of contact for our active clients in English and Spanish. Prepare and organize immigration filings: forms, support letters, and supporting evidence. Communicate with clients to gather information and provide case updates. Maintain client files and our case management system, and track deadlines on assigned cases. Schedule appointments and agency interviews. Conduct basic legal research under attorney supervision. Handle incoming and outgoing case correspondence and routine inquiries. Coordinate billing matters with our administrative team and support internal projects. Qualifications: You are fully fluent in English and Spanish, spoken and written. This is required. You write clearly and communicate confidently with clients. You are organized, manage your time well, and meet deadlines with close attention to detail. You work well independently in a remote team. You are comfortable learning new software and tools. You have at least two years of work experience, preferably in legal, government, nonprofit, or similar roles. You hold a bachelor's or associate's degree, preferably in law, international relations, or another relevant field. Law-firm experience is a plus, but strong administrative skills and clear motivation to learn count just as much. Compensation: $1,400 - $2,400 monthly USD depending on experience
