Project Executive

Hours: Full‑time – 35 hours. Work location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, NY, 11101. The Department of Design and Construction, Borough Based Jails Program (BBJ) seeks a Project Executive to assist with the construction of Borough‑Based Jails facilities. Responsibilities Administer the Borough Based Jail Program to support construction facilities throughout the city. Manage the aggressive construction schedule, ensuring project milestones are met and executing strategies to drive the high‑profile project through required regulatory agencies. Monitor project budgets, work with a team of architects, engineers, and construction managers, oversee allocation of resources, and ensure timely delivery of completed facilities. Coordinate with other BBJ Program Executives to maintain adherence to contract documents, and collaborate to keep projects on schedule and budget. Liaise with DDC senior management, supervisors, and various interagency task forces, providing updates on all project‑related issues. Supervise construction teams and staff with clear accountability, implementing tiered methodology. Minimum Qualifications At least six years of full‑time satisfactory experience in construction management on capital projects, each of which must have had a dollar value of at least $15,000, with at least eighteen months in a managerial or consultative capacity. A total of ten years of education and experience may be met by a combination of: Full‑time satisfactory experience in construction inspection on capital projects; up to four years of experience may be credited. Full‑time satisfactory experience as a journeyperson in one or more skilled building construction trades; up to four years may be credited. Education in an accredited college leading to a bachelor's degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or related disciplines; up to four years may be credited. A New York State license as a professional engineer or registered architect, or a reciprocal license from a state that has reciprocity with New York State, may substitute for the education and experience described above. License Requirements Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Driver License in the State of New York, which must be maintained during employment. Authorization to work in the United States is required. The NYC Department of Design and Construction does not provide sponsorship for international employees for visa applications or extensions. Preferred Skills Preference will be given to candidates with at least ten years of experience in management, project management, administration, and/or supervisory work. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written skills and knowledge of the City’s infrastructure and public building systems.
