Salary $26.44 - $31.25 per hour General Purpose Of Job The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for managing a territory that includes customers and prospects assigned to it. The BDR partners with contractors to sell paint products, sundries, and equipment, working closely with customers to act as a valued supplier and business partner. The role focuses on low‑volume customers, assessing their true potential volume and growing it to a level where the customer can be reassigned to an Outside Sales Representative (OSR), or efficiently managing small potential customers on an ongoing basis. This is an inside sales role that requires closing sales to the assigned customer. Essential Roles And Responsibilities Manage a list of customers identified throughout the region, reintroducing them to Dunn‑Edwards if they have stopped purchasing. Draw customers into store locations to purchase materials and participate in training events and activities, growing the overall sales contribution of the aggregate list. Focus on House Accounts (for which no commission is paid currently) and OSR accounts that are purchasing little to no product as identified by the DSM and GSM. Coordinate with local OSR to enhance service, communication, and assist in growing the business, keeping these accounts in the OSR sales books within each individual territory. Maintain close communication between the OSR and the BDR. Use many techniques to increase brand awareness among target customers, including telemarketing, event sponsorship, mailings, and other concepts developed by the BDR. Learn and develop in the role by helping with some support work for the OSR accounts; this position is a training ground for a future Outside Sales Representative. Are You? There are no non‑supervisory employees reporting directly to this position. Communication And Language Requirements For safety reasons, applicants must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional publications. Must have the ability to produce reports, effectively present information, and respond to questions from individuals and groups. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred. Education And Experience Requirements Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of experience dealing directly with customers in a sales and service environment. Other Experience: Bilingual in Spanish and previous coating industry experience is a plus. Physical Demands Store and Outside Sales positions may have physical requirements that include, but are not limited to: lifting items such as sundries or containers of paint weighing 5 to 75 pounds; using electronic equipment including computers, point‑of‑sale devices, communication devices; driving a large delivery truck/vehicle; climbing ladders; walking on uneven surfaces, e.g., active construction sites; interacting with customers, both face‑to‑face and on the telephone; interacting with customers relating to color; standing for long periods of time; and using a respirator.
