With four comprehensive campuses, five workforce training and education centers, and 200 community locations in the Portland metropolitan area, our unique role is to make high-quality education accessible to everyone, creating opportunities for our students and contributing to the economic development of our community.Portland Community College is seeking a Bridge to Queer & Trans Student Success Project Coordinator, an initiative funded through an Oregon Department of Education LGBTQIA2S+ Student Success Grant. The Bridge to Queer & Trans Student Success (BQTSS) Project is designed to help LGBTQIA2S+ students make the transition to college and succeed during their first year. The coordinator will ensure grant milestones are achieved, lead data collection and reporting, and work closely with our partner at Portland Public Schools (PPS) to plan and execute outreach events with PPS students and their families. The coordinator will collaborate frequently with a range of partners internal and external to the college community, including PCC staff members responsible for specific grant projects and outcomes.This is a .5 FTE 8 month temporary position with possibility of extension; this position is also a grant-funded position on a four-year grant cycle with allocated funding through June 30, 2028.The project coordinator will report to the Director for Queer & Trans Student Success. The Queer & Trans Student Success Department includes Queer Resource Centers on each campus providing advocacy, education, leadership development, programming, community space, and retention services for students with marginalized genders and sexualities.This hybrid position will work district wide, requiring frequent travel throughout both the PCC and Portland Public School service districts, including transporting event supplies between locations. We are seeking a candidate with a strong racial justice lens who has experience centering the needs and voices of QTBIPOC individuals and communities (queer, trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color). The successful candidate will possess many, though not necessarily all, of the following:QTBIPOC Expertise : Experience working with, supporting, and advocating for queer, trans, and gender expansive Black, Indigenous, People of Color and people at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities. Ability to provide identity-affirming, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed service and support.Program & Event Planning: Demonstrated experience in inclusive and accessible student programming and event planning for large-scale and small-scale events. Ability to establish program outcomes and assessments with a student-centered, culturally responsive approach.Reporting & Compliance: Experience with data collection, sorting, and reporting of student/participant engagement metrics and outcomes; experience with grant compliance and fiscal stewardship.Student Development: Demonstrated expertise in student development, student retention, and student success theories, showing knowledge and application of culturally relevant research and practices. Familiarity with K-12 and/or higher education knowledge, policies, and processes.Communication & Collaboration: Ability to develop relationships with internal and external partners and communicate effectively in oral and written form with an awareness of how cultural background and privilege influence perceptions, values, and practices. Skills in public speaking and presentation.Self-Directed and Adaptable: Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, manage tasks both collaboratively and independently, and manage projects from inception to completion. Ability to set goals, prioritize, and execute without constant supervision, while also effectively communicating progress, challenges, and proposed solutions with the team and supervisor.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Education, Liberal Arts, Multicultural Studies, Women’s Studies, Gender Studies, Social Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.•One year of experience in a diverse setting coordinating services or programs for the population served in the area of assignment.Work Environment and Physical RequirementsWork is performed in an office environment. Moderate physical exertion. Occasional lifting of materials which may weigh up to 50 pounds including lifting of marketing materials and display units used for college/high school fairs required. Travel between campuses and various remote sites requires the ability to drive and use of a personal vehicle.
