ER Medical Surgical RN-Registered Nurse

Employment Type: Part time. Shift: Rotating. At MercyOne Dyersville Medical Center, a 20‑bed critical access hospital serving 17 rural communities in western Dubuque County, we are seeking a Registered Nurse to provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. The RN will manage a diverse patient population, including post‑operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients, and will support interdisciplinary teamwork across the unit. Essential Functions Conduct an initial assessment to gather data, completing the admission assessment database within 24 hours of admission. Identify patient problems and develop an outcome/goal‑based plan of care; incorporate relevant medical history and collaborate with other disciplines for interventions and referrals. Implement the plan of care, including coordination of procedures, treatments, orders, education, and medications; coordinate with case managers and other health care disciplines. Evaluate patient progress and revise the plan as needed based on reassessment findings. Communicate relevant clinical information to physicians, the interdisciplinary team, and during shift changes, maintaining comprehensive documentation. Demonstrate clinical competence by following patient care policies, ensuring medication safety, and maintaining proficiency in required computer systems and applications. Manage telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable, interpreting rhythms, recognizing arrhythmias, and providing appropriate interventions. Provide age‑appropriate care based on principles of growth and development, using age‑specific data to guide practice. Collect, analyze, and apply age‑specific data in all aspects of care, ensuring equipment use and communication are appropriate for the patient’s age. Adhere to safety, infection control, and safety policies, consistently using personal protective equipment and maintaining a safe environment. Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, and related policies to ensure ethical and professional conduct. Schedule PRN, as needed. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Current Iowa RN license. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities. Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within 3 months of hire. High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability.
