Recovery Care Specialist – 3rd Shift Location: Nashville, TN 37221 About the Role This position provides direct emotional support, encouragement, empathy, and care to clients in a residential eating disorder treatment setting. The specialist eats with clients, attends groups, processes events and emotions, and offers structure to help clients refrain from eating‑disorder thoughts and behaviors. Responsibilities Provide direct emotional support, encouragement, and structure to clients throughout the day/night. Eat with clients, attend group sessions, and process events/emotions with clients. Facilitate shift communication with supervisor and participate in on‑call rotation. Attend and incorporate training in de‑escalation, grounding, processing, flashbacks, and other eating‑disorder related issues. Work with the RCS/Treatment team to present one clear decision/voice/standard to clients. Recognize client needs to process, communicate concerns to therapist/treatment team, and provide empathy and genuine support during processing. Be physically available for clients to approach and build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries. Follow emergency intervention procedures for self‑harm and house rules, setting an example for clients. Encourage/direct clients to attend and participate in daily programming, and complete weekly affirmations. Stay alert during extended periods of downtime (e.g., when clients are sleeping or working on projects). Attend and participate in groups while on shift. Drive clients to appointments, outings, or meetings in company vehicles. Incorporate mealtime training with clients during meals/snacks and use behavioral intervention as needed. Work 2–3 major and minor holidays each year. Understand activity/band levels, client rules, expectations, nutritional philosophy, body‑image issues, and typical ED behaviors. Document meal/snack/beverage completion and maintain accurate time sheets daily and sign weekly. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (mental health or social work field preferred). Active First Aid/CPR/AED certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association). Documented proof of MMR and Hepatitis B vaccinations. Valid driver’s license. Successful completion of criminal background check through DBHDS, Background Investigation Unit, and VDSS Registry searches. Benefits Collaborative environment dedicated to clinical excellence.
