Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Part-Time & Per Diem

Position Overview

James L. West Alzheimer’s Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated  Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team on a  part-time or per diem basis .

This is an excellent opportunity for an SLP who is passionate about providing person-centered care and helping individuals maintain their communication, swallowing, and functional abilities while supporting their dignity and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents to identify speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on each resident’s clinical needs and goals.
• Provide therapeutic interventions designed to improve communication, cognition, swallowing, and functional independence.
• Monitor resident progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
• Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with nursing, therapy, dietary, medical staff, families, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Educate residents, families, caregivers, and staff regarding communication strategies, swallowing precautions, and appropriate therapeutic techniques.
• Promote resident safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Speech-Language Pathologist license in the state of Texas.
• Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through ASHA, as applicable.
• Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, geriatrics, or dementia care is preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia is a plus.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
