About the Wilmington Sharks

The Wilmington Sharks are a collegiate summer baseball organization and founding member of the Coastal Plain League, playing at Legion Stadium in Wilmington, North Carolina. Since their inaugural season in 1997, the Sharks have become a fixture in the Wilmington and Cape Fear community and have won four league championships, most recently in 2026.

Our goal is to provide an exciting, affordable, family-friendly entertainment experience that combines competitive baseball with the atmosphere, promotions, partnerships and community engagement of a professional minor league organization.

Position Overview

The Wilmington Sharks are seeking a motivated and versatile Sales & Marketing Manager to help drive ticket sales, sponsorship revenue, fan engagement and overall awareness of the Sharks brand.

This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys working in the fast-paced environment of sports and entertainment. The successful candidate will be comfortable wearing multiple hats - selling a group outing in the morning, working on a sponsorship proposal in the afternoon, launching a digital campaign later that day and helping execute a promotion at the ballpark on game night.

The position will work closely with Sharks leadership and other members of the front office to grow revenue, strengthen relationships with fans and local businesses, and continue building the Wilmington Sharks brand throughout the Cape Fear region.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Development

• Generate revenue through group ticket sales, season/flex plans, hospitality opportunities and other ticket products
• Assist with the prospecting, development and sale of corporate sponsorships and advertising partnerships
• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, schools, youth sports organizations and other prospective partners
• Conduct outbound sales efforts through phone, email, networking and in-person meetings
• Identify new opportunities to increase attendance and generate incremental revenue
• Assist in developing sales packages, presentations and proposals

CRM & Sales Management

• Utilize the Sharks' CRM to manage prospects, customers, sales activity and follow-up
• Maintain organized and accurate sales pipelines for tickets and sponsorship opportunities
• Develop processes for lead capture, segmentation and ongoing customer communication
• Use CRM data to identify sales opportunities and improve conversion and retention
• HubSpot experience is strongly preferred

Marketing & Digital Advertising

• Assist in developing and executing the Sharks' overall marketing strategy
• Plan and manage paid social media campaigns , particularly across Meta platforms
• Develop targeted campaigns designed to drive ticket sales, special-event attendance and fan engagement
• Monitor campaign performance and make adjustments based on results
• Coordinate email marketing and CRM-based campaigns
• Assist with social media, digital content, promotions and other marketing initiatives
• Help develop creative campaigns around theme nights, promotions, ticket offers and community events

Game Day & Community Engagement

• Assist with execution of marketing, sponsorship and ticketing initiatives during Sharks home games
• Ensure sponsorship elements and partner activations are properly executed
• Represent the Sharks at community events, networking opportunities and promotional appearances
• Work collaboratively with the entire Sharks staff to create an outstanding fan and partner experience

Qualifications

• Previous sales and/or marketing experience within a sports organization strongly preferred
• Experience in baseball, minor league sports, collegiate athletics or sports entertainment is a plus
• Demonstrated sales ability and comfort with prospecting and developing new business
• Experience working with a CRM platform; HubSpot strongly preferred
• Experience creating and managing paid social media advertising campaigns
• Understanding of digital marketing, email marketing and social media
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects
• Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to wear multiple hats
• Ability to work evenings and weekends during the Sharks season and for select events throughout the year

What We're Looking For

More than anything, we're looking for someone who wants to help grow the Wilmington Sharks.

The right person will be equally comfortable talking with a local business owner about a sponsorship, developing a ticket sales campaign in HubSpot, reviewing the performance of a Facebook or Instagram ad, and helping make sure a packed night at the ballpark runs successfully.

Because we operate with a small, collaborative front office, this isn't a position where every responsibility fits neatly into a job title. We value people who see something that needs to be done and are willing to jump in and help make it happen.
