Part Time Music Instructor – Music History and Repertoire General Description SUNY Niagara has a need for a part time Music Instructor for our Music History and Repertoire I course. This course is taught in person in a classroom setting on our Sanborn, NY campus. It explores the elements of music as they relate to musical styles, forms and composers from Ancient Greece, the Middle Ages through the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical eras. Major historical events and composers’ repertoire will be studied in depth. The course is required of music majors and recommended for non‑majors with music experience. (Usually offered Fall semester.) Remuneration $1,008 per lecture hour/$903 per lab hour. Typical Work Activities Teach course on campus. Track attendance as needed. Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester. Report grades at the conclusion of the semester. Essential Functions Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co‑workers, supervisors, and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must be able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions. Qualifications Three years of experience teaching at a high school or college level. Desirable Qualifications Master’s Degree in Music or related field. Experience using Microsoft Office software (Excel and Word). Experience with the Brightspace learning management system.
