Job Title: RN II-MED-SURG Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Rotating Shift Hours per Shift: As scheduled Experience: One year of medical-surgical experience required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: Responsible for the planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients on the medical-surgical unit. This position addresses the age-related physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Responsibilities include care planning, monitoring vital signs, administering medication dosages, recognizing physiological changes, and addressing psychosocial needs. Supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel within their scope of practice. Competent in all routine nursing skills, including medication administration, intravenous therapy, care of indwelling catheters and drains, and safe use of medical equipment. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the healthcare team. Educates patients and their families about care, using teaching methods appropriate to age, condition, culture, and learning readiness. Delegates patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on competency and scope of practice. Evaluates the effectiveness of care performed and ensures accurate, timely documentation of nursing care. Actively participates in orientation and training of new employees and ancillary staff. Identifies opportunities to improve care, services, and unit operations. Open to change and pursuing new goals for the unit. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. All associates are required to receive necessary vaccinations as a condition of employment. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. Participants in E-Verify. No floating to other units required. Weekend coverage is required. Med-surg care focuses on neurotrauma patients, post-operative ortho patients, and pneumonia/infection patients.
