Humanitary Medical Center is looking for an experienced and friendly Referral Coordinator that enjoys helping others, has a welcoming demeanor and can work in a fast-paced environment.
Job duties: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive.
- Responsible for scheduling consultations, diagnostic testing, and surgical procedures. Requests approval if needed.
- Enters referrals, authorization information, diagnostic and procedure codes in our data bank.
- Coordinates follow-up care of our patients with the referral physicians as approved by a Physician Associates physician.
- Forward medical records to the referral provider in a timely manner and coordinate follow-up care of our patients.
- Serves as a subject expert to answer questions regarding insurance benefits, referral policies and procedures to our HMC staff and patients.
- Refers requests for emergency care and urgent care or medical advice to the appropriate staff member.
- Contacts patients with information regarding tests ordered by a provider as necessary.
- Orders and/or directs patients for outside tests.
- Assists supervisor as directed to maintain daily flow in the department.
- Obtains authorizations from a diversity of insurance companies depending on each patient’s insurance plan
