Pay $40.00-48.00 Location: on-site in South San Jose 6 month+ assignment possible contract to direct hire

REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Bachelor's degree in technical field or in Business Administration, or equivalent; MBA desirable.
• Years of Experience: Five years' relevant experience.
• Other Requirements:
• Ability to communicate effectively with associates and suppliers both orally and in writing.

• Administrative purchasing experience
• Keyboard, reading, writing and mathematical skills, and the ability to use specialized equipment, read difficult instructions, and maintain records.
• Computer skills, Excel, Word, BAAN, Access, Materials Management System or equivalent.

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for carrying out broad assignments involving the purchase of high dollar and/or strategic items, requiring extensive or specialized knowledge and experience. Develop sources of supply, negotiate contracts, checks requisitions, contact suppliers, examine bids and proposals and make awards. Determines material requirements from Sales & Marketing, Demand Planning and the Production Schedule and coordinates the efficient movement of materials through production cycle, consignment programs and Kanban Trigger Pull system. Evaluates supplier reliability and may provide work leadership and train lower-level Buyers. Participates in and helps to lead Division-wide Strategic Sourcing efforts. Typically requires a college education or equivalent and a minimum of five years' relevant experience. This senior level non-management position reports to the Purchasing Manager.

KEY TASKS

• Interviews suppliers; investigate sources of supply; check suppliers' qualifications.
• Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
• Performs a variety of administrative duties related to the acquisition of materials, supplies, equipment and services.
• Contacts appropriate suppliers to obtain price quotes, lead-time, methods of procurement, and quality data.
• Expedites orders and requisitions.
• Performs purchasing transactions requiring the usage of BAAN, Word, Excel, Access and other computer tools.
• Maintains records, prepares reports, and performs other duties as requested by managers such running inventory reports, MRP inputs & Reports
• Investigate and analyzes new requirements generated by MRP, Kanban or other planning methods.
• Attends and conducts a variety of meetings with staff, suppliers, and engineering to clarify specifications, material requirements, contractual agreements, and to resolve problems
