Position Overview Inventory Management Assistant in the Sheriff’s Inmate Commissary at the Todd Road Jail Facility, Santa Paula. Positions range from part‑time to full‑time and cover all Ventura County detention facilities. The role involves receiving, transporting, stocking, issuing, inventorying, assembling, packaging, and record‑keeping of commissary supplies. Responsibilities Perform office tasks such as data entry, document retrieval, records maintenance, copying, scanning, filing and answering phones. Use inventory management systems and Microsoft Word. Transport large carts loaded with commissary products; drive a box truck and operate pallet jack. Verify received items meet specifications; label and store items to prevent damage. Maintain clean warehouse environment and accurate inventory records. Repair or maintain warehouse equipment. Support inmates and inmate workers with commissary procedures. Coordinate work of lower‑level assistants and provide training. Prepare oral and written reports for supervisors. Assist in vendor relations and procurement of parts, equipment and supplies. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications and Experience Valid California driver’s license. One year of clerical experience (six months as a county clerical trainee) for level I; an additional year of inventory control for level II; two years of inventory control for level III; alternatively, work experience as a lower level for corresponding years. Basic computer keyboard and Microsoft Office skills; familiarity with inventory management software (VCIJIS or similar). Physical ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a jail environment. Ability to perform repetitive work, maintain accurate records, and follow procedures. Schedule and Travel Hours may include evenings, weekends and travel to other Ventura County jail facilities. Work assignments vary by location. Pay Inventory Management Assistant I: $23.00–$31.00 per hour. Inventory Management Assistant II: $24.37–$34.08 per hour. Inventory Management Assistant III: $26.19–$36.63 per hour.
