Job Details A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct and indirect patient care activities under supervision of licensed clinical team members, supporting patient needs and facilitating telehealth encounters. Responsibilities Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners. Performs direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs under direction of licensed clinical team members. Promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment. Assists in maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure efficient unit operations. Conducts patient rounds, anticipates patient needs, and responds promptly to patient call lights or pages. May act as a virtual safety associate as needed based on campus needs. Facilitates clinical exams via telehealth under direction of distant provider, utilizing peripheral devices and technology such as electronic stethoscope, video conferencing equipment, and software (e.g., Epic, Vidyo). Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs, and interprofessional team roles. Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role. Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients daily. Knowledge of risks faced by patients and steps to reduce these risks. Ability to convey respect and collaborate with patients, families, and care partners from diverse backgrounds. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques. Uses language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care. BLS - Basic Life Support. AHA - American Heart Association certification. Additional Qualifications Completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40‑50 lbs (push/pull patients on bed, stretcher requiring 29 lbs push force, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs). Frequent to continuous standing/walking; patient transporters may walk 8‑10 miles per shift. May perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR.
