EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT (CLASS CODE 0268)

Overview Important and independent administrative support work in performing a wide variety of complex and confidential technical and supervisory support tasks in support of agency head, CAO, the Council Chief of Staff or equivalent position and related duties as required. Responsibilities Handling requests for information Conducting research Preparing statistical reports Drafting correspondence on behalf of the department head Scheduling meetings Other clerical duties as needed Requirements A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of experience providing high level administrative support to a department head, equivalent, or higher. Work must have included handling requests for information, conducting research, preparing statistical reports, drafting correspondence on behalf of the department head, scheduling meetings, and other clerical duties. Applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials prior to start date. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education claimed by the applicant. For current City employees, required experience at pay grade 67 or higher. Additional related experience may be substituted at the rate of one year of experience equals 30 semester hours; a combination equaling nine (9) years is qualifying. A qualifying computerized keyboarding test with a minimum of 35 words per minute after deduction of errors, a qualifying written examination, and a rating of experience weighted 100%. Credit only for experience gained within the last ten (10) years. Background check required; criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. Compliance with Domicile requirements: Must be domiciled in Orleans Parish within 180 days of hire, with specified exceptions for certain public‑safety employees and airport employees. Veterans Preference: Veterans, disabled veterans, and certain spouses and parents of veterans receive additional credit if claimed. Good moral character required; disqualifying conduct may be grounds for disqualification.
