Post-Doc Research Associate - Tamayo Lab The Tamayo Lab seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate mechanisms of pathogenesis of the bacterium Clostridioides difficile , an obligate anaerobe and biosafety level 2 pathogen, as part of an NIH-funded project. The postdoctoral researcher will conduct genetic manipulation of bacterial genes, perform genetic screens, biochemical analysis of macromolecular interactions (DNA‑protein and RNA‑protein), and a variety of microbiological assays to assess bacterial phenotypes. Work with tissue culture and murine models of disease is required. Responsibilities Conduct literature searches and design experiments. Perform, optimize, and document wet‑lab protocols. Analyze and visualize data, troubleshooting experimental issues. Document procedures and results, collate data, and prepare manuscripts and presentations. Train and mentor junior lab members in experimental techniques. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements PhD in Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Extensive hands‑on experience in wet‑lab bacterial genetics and molecular biology techniques including PCR, qPCR, cloning, protein purification, western blotting, and cell culture. Experience with murine models of bacterial infection. Proficiency in experimental design, documentation, data analysis and visualization, and troubleshooting. Experience mentoring junior lab members in experimental techniques. Strong communication skills for preparing manuscripts, presenting at conferences, and mentoring. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Additional experience in advanced genetic manipulation, high‑throughput screening, or systems biology approaches related to bacterial pathogenesis. Proficiency in bioinformatics tools for analyzing genomic or proteomic data.
