ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

This role is for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a critical care setting. The nurse will be responsible for monitoring and managing patients with a range of complex medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and document patients' conditions, monitoring vital signs and any changes in status.
• Administer medications and intravenous (IV) therapy as prescribed and manage titratable drips including cardiac, insulin, and sedation.
• Perform patient care procedures and assist with medical interventions and emergency care as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health conditions and treatment plans.
• Utilize monitoring equipment to assess patient conditions and document findings accurately.
• Participate in unit activities, including coordination with nurse aides and healthcare support staff.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• Experience in an ICU or critical care setting preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to interpret telemetry strips.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Shifts & Scheduling:

Shifts are 12 hours, with options for day or night shifts. Weekend coverage is required every other week. Self-scheduling is available for core staff, with additional travel staff integrated into the schedule. Block scheduling is considered only for weekends.

Orientation:

One shift of unit-specific orientation is provided.

Additional Information:

• This position involves floating to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Medical-Surgical units as needed, maintaining similar nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Minimum holiday requirements include working at least two holidays during the contracted period.
• A nail policy prohibits the use of artificial nails in patient care areas.
• Trained staff will assist in operating respiratory care equipment.
