Description:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the Progressive Care Unit.
The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional flexing to 1:6.
The role requires two years of relevant nursing experience, specifically in cardiac care.
The nurse will float within their scope to meet facility needs as required.
Weekend shifts are required, totaling eight shifts in a six-week scheduling period.
The nurse will be involved in cardiac telemetry management and emergency responses.
Skills required include interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of various cardiovascular protocols.
Experience in post-cardiac procedures is essential, including post cardiac angiograms and post myocardial infarction care.
Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and gastrointestinal care, such as feeding tube management, is necessary.
The responsibilities include administering medications, managing drips, and performing phlebotomy when needed.
The nurse must be familiar with respiratory care, including chest tube management and non-invasive airway management.
Wound care and understanding of isolation precautions are also key aspects of this position.
Additional skills that are preferred include cardiac sheath removal and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
The nursing practice is supported by an interdisciplinary team, enhancing collaborative care for patients.
Patient populations may include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Daily census is approximately 18 patients in the unit.
This position is within a Magnet-designated, teaching, level 1 trauma facility.
