Adjunct Business, Principles of Management Instructor Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Principles of Management (BUS 200). The position is part‑time, paid per credit hour, and will be performed in a hybrid format (in‑person and online). The role will involve planning, teaching, and assessing student learning, and supporting student success. Responsibilities Teach the fundamental management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Apply management principles to realistic situations managers encounter. Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high‑quality course materials align with college standards. Maintain engagement through the Canvas Learning Management System for the online portion. Participate in professional activities and support student success through active engagement. Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Management or a related business field from a regionally accredited institution. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams. Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments. Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds. Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success. Teaching experience at the college level, specifically with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities. Competency using instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas. Experience working with community college students. Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
