The Litigation Paralegal will support attorneys through all phases of the litigation lifecycle, from initial investigation through discovery, trial, and appeal. This role requires a balance of substantive billable work and administrative case management. The ideal candidate takes charge, works independently and is a detail-oriented professional capable of managing multiple case deadlines while maintaining high-quality work product. This role, featuring direct client contact and hands-on responsibility, directly impacts the positive outcomes of cases. Preferred Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
• Experience: 3–5 years of experience in civil litigation (defense or plaintiff-side).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and NetDocuments.
• Abilities: Strong writing skills, ability to bill 1,500 - 1,600 hours annually, and a thorough understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure.

Core Responsibilities and Duties

Substantive & Billable (80-90%)
• Discovery Management: Draft and respond to Interrogatories, Requests for Production, and Requests for Admission. Conduct first-pass document reviews for relevance and privilege.
• Drafting & Filings: Assist with initial drafts of pleadings, affidavits, and routine motions. Manage the finalization of briefs, including cite-checking and formatting.
• Fact Investigation: Conduct background research on issues, parties and witnesses. Summarize deposition transcripts and create chronological fact summaries.
• Trial Preparation: Prepare trial notebooks, manage exhibit lists, and coordinate with expert witnesses regarding report deadlines and testimony logistics.
• Legal Research: Utilize LexisNexis to perform preliminary case law and statutory research.

Administrative & Non-Billable (10-20%)
• Conflict Checks: Processing new matter intake forms and running conflict-of-interest searches.
• File Maintenance: Organizing the physical or digital (client files) and ensuring saving correspondence, pleadings and documents.
• Scheduling: Coordinating the scheduling of depositions, mediations, and court reporters.
• Travel Arrangements: Booking flights and hotels for attorneys and witnesses for out-of-town proceedings.
• Vendor Management: Directing activities of process servers, couriers, and copy centers.

Performance Indicators
• Positive, “can-do” attitude and a team oriented, collaborative approach to professional responsibilities.
• Accuracy and timeliness of court filings.
