Pharmacy Technician Specialist (Medication Reconciliation)

The role supports pharmacy operations by performing specialty functions and, as needed, standard certified pharmacy technician duties. You will be patient‑facing, interviewing admitted patients to document detailed medication histories, working mainly in the emergency department with a shift of 8‑on, 6‑off (Wednesday to Wednesday) from 12:30pm to 11:00pm. One day per cycle will be scheduled in the main pharmacy. What You Will Do Perform specialty pharmacy functions assigned to support daily pharmacy operations. Carry out the duties of a certified pharmacy technician. Follow established procedures to ensure medication safety and compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Complete additional job functions as assigned or requested. Education and Training High School diploma or equivalent (required). Technical degree or diploma in pharmacy technology (preferred). Work Experience 1–3 years as a pharmacy technician (required). Licenses and Certifications Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) – Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (required). Pharmacy Technician – Tennessee Board of Pharmacy (required). Pharmacy Technician – Mississippi Board of Pharmacy (preferred). Certified Pharmacy Technician – ExCPT (National Healthcareer Association) (preferred). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with medication nomenclature and complex pharmaceutical calculations. Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external customers, including problem‑solving scenarios. Proficiency in pharmacy computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision. Supervision No direct supervision is provided to this position. Physical Demands Physical activities may include lifting up to 100lbs occasionally or 50lbs frequently, climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motions.
