The Atlantic Group has partnered with a large nonprofit in the Brooklyn area. They have an immediate need for a Grant Accountant to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position.

 

Role: Grant Accountant

Schedule: Candidates need to work 5 days/week in-office for 6 months during a probation/orientation period. After that, then they can WFH 2-3 days a week at the candidate's choosing.

Hours: 9-5pm (can accommodate 8-4pm if needed)

 

Position Overview

Seeking a Grant Accountant to join their Grant Accounting & Contracts Management team. These teams operate separately but collaborate closely, and candidates can be considered for both roles depending on experience and interest.

 

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of ~10 grants or program budgets

• Partner with program teams to ensure spending aligns with budget and program needs

• Work directly with NYC agencies and funders to resolve invoicing and budget-related issues

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and grant tracking processes

• Participate in internal and external meetings related to funding and program support

• Assist in moving funding forward across various programs and funding sources

• Navigate multiple funders and adapt across different grant requirements

 

Qualifications

• 1-10+ years of experience within a NYC social services or nonprofit organization

• Experience working with NYC agencies (DHS, DOHMH, HRA, etc.)

• Experience submitting invoices and/or managing budgets tied to government grants

• Strong communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with program teams

• Open to candidates with heavier grant experience—budgeting exposure can be taught

• Strong mentorship and training environment with multiple senior layers

• Hybrid schedule typically 2–3 days/week in office (more upfront for onboarding, flexible after)
