Therapy - RRT Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 59-day assignment Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 7.5 Experience: Minimum of six months hospital-based experience required License: Client Respiratory Therapist License required Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist credential by N.B.R.C. required Must-Have: BLS certification required Description:This position includes routine and advanced respiratory therapy modalities and techniques.You will assess the appropriateness of ordered modalities to meet therapeutic goals.You will assess the effectiveness of therapy administered.Assisting medical doctors in interpreting data from complex invasive and non-invasive techniques is expected.You will determine appropriate ventilator settings as dictated by the specific situation unless otherwise ordered.The role involves performing invasive and non-invasive techniques of a diagnostic and therapeutic nature.You will perform arterial punctures and evaluate results to gauge response to therapy.Bedside techniques will be performed and evaluated in a safe and effective manner.You will determine the potency of artificial airways and take corrective action as needed.Interacting with medical personnel to resolve patient care issues independently is essential.You will discuss nuances of care of a highly technical nature with medical personnel.Demonstrating respiratory therapy equipment and its clinical applications is required.Documentation of patient care is a necessary part of this role.You will assist with clinical instruction of new employees when requested.Imparting concepts and technical procedures of respiratory care in logical sequences is expected.You will actively participate in department in-service education programs.Regular teaching of non-credentialed staff will be part of your responsibilities.You will participate in the department safety program and ensure adherence to safety regulations.Maintaining a high level of customer service while interacting with all staff and visitors is important.You will gather complex hemodynamic data and interpret results to assess the impact of respiratory therapy modalities.The ability to recognize and defuse conflicts using sound judgment and understanding of group dynamics is essential.Your work will involve some judgment in selecting applicable rules or procedures.Moderate supervision will be expected except in non-standard issues that may arise.Performing other job-related duties as assigned will be required.This role involves complying with all policies and standards.You must have a broad scope of knowledge in the pathologic basis of disease.Superior knowledge and understanding of respiratory therapy equipment and practices are necessary.You will be expected to effectively interact with all medical personnel as an integral member of the health care team.Demonstrating leadership qualities in time management based on sound judgment is important.You will understand abnormal lab values and recommend corrective actions.Excellent oral and written communication skills are required for this role.Responsibilities will include ensuring that cylinder levels do not drop below specified points.The ability to evaluate patient care issues independently and clinically is vital.You will be responsible for making clinical decisions to ensure patient survival. #J-18808-Ljbffr
