Business Development Executive

Job Summary Under general supervision, this position is responsible for contacting prospective customers with a high-level transportation spend. This includes meeting with executive decision makers to discuss specialized service offerings such as DCS, FMS, and LTL. The position is the primary owner of the account(s) to which it is aligned, focusing on defining the opportunity strategy to sell to the customer. Key Responsibilities Conduct lead generation activities for new and incremental business, including cold calling, networking, and other prospecting methods. Visit prospective and existing customers at their corporate headquarters or other sites as needed and travel to customer sites to meet customer needs. Perform activities related to opportunity management and monitor the health of the account, including customer KPI review, revenue quality monitoring, identifying additional opportunities, and reviewing contract and pay terms to ensure adherence to agreement. Coordinate with internal teams and the customer to implement the customer’s solution, including participation in kick‑off. Meet with customers and prospective customers to discuss viable opportunities, understand business needs, identify scope, submit proposals, finalize contracts, and win the business. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with 2‑3 years of relevant experience, or 5+ years in sales, marketing, or a similar field; valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt standards. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance, transportation law, HR/risk or boardroom settings; skilled communication; internal resource coordination for solution development; negotiating and contract building; ability to develop future‑oriented sales plans that support business strategy; drive to accomplish goals; ability to maintain healthy relationships with clients, vendors, and peers; knowledge of activities involved in selling a product or service; analytical skills to assess customer activities and profiles; understanding of meeting or exceeding established targets. Compensation Starting pay range: $106,000.00 – $132,600.00. May be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the Company’s bonus and incentive plans.
