Administrator, Supply Chain Management

This role involves directing purchasing activities within a designated group, managing day-to-day materials operations, and fostering a positive work environment aligned with organizational values.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise purchasing, receiving, stocking, storage, control, and distribution of supplies and materials.
- Identify material and supply needs, conduct research, solicit bids, and issue purchase orders.
- Ensure accurate charging of materials, verify invoices and purchase orders, and manage vendor returns.
- Maintain inventory control, data accuracy in purchasing systems, stock records, and reorder points.
- Coordinate biomedical maintenance activities to ensure equipment functionality and safety.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to improve formularies using cost, quality, and outcomes-based analysis.
- Participate in committees, lead projects, and serve as a liaison across disciplines.
- Manage vendor relationships, account terms, and resolve issues.
- Partner with facilities and department managers on business expansions to secure necessary equipment and supplies.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to staff, ensuring competency and engagement.
- Stay current with regulatory changes, compliance, and industry best practices through ongoing education.
- Manage logistics, freight budgets, and carrier contracts for deliveries and pickups.
Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. Candidates should have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in hospital or institutional materials management, with a minimum of one year in a supervisory role. Management experience and familiarity with materials management systems are preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Certification in Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of materials management, purchasing, and inventory control principles in healthcare settings.
- Experience with group purchasing organizations and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn electronic medical records and other systems.
- Ability to develop processes, maintain accurate documentation, and foster effective partnerships.
- Excellent leadership, communication, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills.
- Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve problems effectively.
