LICENSING SPECIALIST – FOSTER CARE OPS Date: May 19, 2026 Agency: Children and Families Location: Tallahassee, FL Role Summary A professional position specializing in counseling, casework, and administrative activities in Licensing, responsible for inspecting and licensing programs for childcare, substance abuse, or foster and community care. Responsibilities Conduct on‑site inspections for programs to monitor compliance with Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code licensing standards; maintain tracking system to ensure inspection timeframes are met. Process and review initial and renewal applications, including background screening clearances and training as required by statute. Investigate licensing violations and complaints on licensed providers and illegal operations; prepare reports and initiate administrative action as required. This is a non‑telework position. Qualifications Child Welfare Certification from FCB preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Child Welfare. Minimum of 1 year’s experience in foster home licensing preferred. Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, Florida Safe Family Network (FSFN), and internet use. Ability to travel within the region preferred. Preferences Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field (Human Services, Education, Human Science, Law, Behavioral Sciences, Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, Public Administration, Community Development, Health Science, Political Science). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of theories and practice in child protection and family support. Knowledge of professional ethics relating to child protection and counseling. Knowledge of family‑centered interviewing and counseling techniques. Skill in considering child development in guiding placement of children. Skill in employing family‑centered practice. Skill in organizing community resources to assist families. Ability to recognize indicators of abuse and neglect. Ability to conduct risk and safety investigations.
