Grants Development Director: Client Strategy & Operations

The Director of Grants Development plays a critical leadership role in driving the operational efficiency and strategic execution of grants development work at Boyd Grants. Serving as the primary relationship owner for an active portfolio of clients, the Director leads client meetings, directs the day‑to‑day workflow of subcontractors, and manages all project execution within Asana. This role requires a high degree of independent problem‑solving and execution. With primary ownership of the client relationship and internal writing workflows, the Director protects the capacity of the Vice President, ensuring the VP is not engaged in daily workflow management, but rather, called upon as needed for strategic escalations of client needs or final quality assurance reviews. Client Development & Management The Director serves as the primary point of contact for active clients, managing the relationship from the post‑contract kickoff through ongoing contract execution. Prospective Clients: Participate in the new client intake meetings alongside the VP to evaluate fit and scope. Research prospective client backgrounds prior to intake meetings and provide strategic recommendations on client acceptance. Active Clients: Lead all client status meetings. Prior to each meeting, prepare meeting notes by reviewing Asana and making strategic recommendations. Following the meeting, ensure actionable meeting notes are distributed within 24 hours, then the updates and next steps are logged in Asana. The Director responds to routine client emails within one business day and serves as the primary escalation point for client issues before involving the VP. Operational Management & Asana Workflow The Director oversees and maintains all active client Asana project boards within their portfolio. This includes directing the day‑to‑day writing and editing workflow for all active grants. The Director assigns narratives and other deliverables to subcontractors, sets and tracks all grant deadlines in Asana, alerting the team as quickly as possible about upcoming work or urgent actions needed. Grant Writing & Quality Assurance Maintaining Boyd Grants’ standard of excellence, the Director conducts the internal Quality Assurance (QA) review of all grant narratives before submitting them to the VP for final approval. No deliverable goes to a client without this two‑step QA process. The Director manages the grant process end‑to‑end, including assigning work to subcontractors, conducting internal QA reviews, managing portal logins and document assembly, confirming submissions, and providing timely feedback to ensure all deliverables meet Boyd Grants' quality standards. Leadership & Collaboration The Director works closely with the Vice President to cultivate strong relationships within the existing client portfolio and contributes client‑level data to the annual departmental strategic plan. The Director attends weekly check‑ins with the VP and escalates issues in writing with a recommended resolution. As the department scales, the Director will collaborate with the VP to onboard new team members, including the future Directors and Program Managers, providing mentorship and ongoing guidance. Reporting & Internal Communication The Director is responsible for generating a monthly client report for each retainer client by the last business day of the month. Working from baseline data in Asana, the Director writes the strategic narrative summary, including grant pipeline updates and upcoming deadlines, and submits the report to the VP for final approval before distribution. Internally, the Director shares post‑meeting client updates to the team, including any contractor or staff assignments and deadlines, via Asana within 24 hours of the client meeting. Team Structure & Boundaries The Director of Grants Development reports to the Vice President of Grants Development. Supervision: The Director manages the day‑to‑day workflow of assigned contractors (writers) and will eventually supervise a Project Manager. The Director also reviews the Research Analyst’s prospect research for client alignment before VP assessment. Role Boundaries: The Director does not make final go/no‑go decision on the intake of new clients, conduct formal performance reviews, or submit final deliverables to clients without the VP’s QA approval. #J-18808-Ljbffr Stryker Corporation
