Job Description

As a Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology/Infusion, you will provide exceptional leadership in coordinating and delivering compassionate, quality patient care to individuals navigating their cancer treatment journey. This is a dynamic role where you'll make a meaningful difference every day by utilizing the complete nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to develop and execute personalized care plans that address the unique needs of each patient and their family.

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Clinical Leadership & Patient Care Coordination: Lead the coordination and delivery of evidence-based oncology and infusion care, ensuring each patient receives compassionate, individualized treatment. Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop detailed nursing care plans, and implement therapeutic interventions with precision and empathy.
• Delegation & Team Supervision: Effectively delegate nursing tasks to team members, provide direct supervision, and mentor nursing staff to maintain the highest standards of patient care. Foster a collaborative environment where excellence in oncology nursing is the standard.
• Documentation & Communication Excellence: Maintain meticulous, comprehensive documentation of patient care, treatment responses, and clinical observations. Communicate pertinent patient and family information clearly and promptly to the entire healthcare team, ensuring seamless coordination across all departments.
• Patient & Family Education: Provide thorough patient and family education regarding treatment protocols, side effect management, self-care strategies, and emotional support resources. Empower patients and families to actively participate in their care journey.
• Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify variances from established patient goals and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement effective solutions. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.
• Specialized Infusion Nursing: Demonstrate expert-level competency in infusion therapy administration, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care medications. Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and best practices in oncology nursing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• BSN preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
• Health care provider certification (BCLS).
