Overview Under technical and moderate direction, this position supports the daily service demands of our agents and underwriting team and requires a thorough understanding of billing and underwriting system transactions, State specific LOB filings and system error correction. Under direct supervision, this position works within a letter of authority issued by the underwriting supervisor on assignments of moderate to low complexity, hazard grade, and premium. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Support Underwriting Staff. Assist underwriters in obtaining various credit reports utilizing reporting tools provided by the different bureaus. Request financial statement from agents. Clear and open communication with internal staff and agents. Ensure accuracy of information and adherence to company underwriting standards and philosophy. Reinforce the ease of doing business with Selective by meeting or exceeding customers' expectations and service quality on a consistent basis. Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner on coverage, renewals, billing questions and making bond adjustments based upon granted authority level. Take necessary measures to obtain information needed to finalize inquiries/transactions. Maintain a suspense and follow-up system for outstanding underwriting items. Processes renewals, riders, cancellations, manual bond issuance including OFAC screening, handle BOR's in accordance with established guidelines and process reports, correspondence under the direction of assigned underwriters. Revise all forms as necessary. Service customer billing inquiries which require the ability to reconstruct account billing activity based on knowledge of the billing system. Work with billing department regarding bonds in collections prior to processing cancellations. Submit work tasks in the billing system as needed. Provide guidance to internal and external customers regarding various underwriting information. Answer direct phone calls and call center calls (Finesse). Open and date stamp mail, distribute appropriately. Reply to daily email inquiries within 24 hours. Monitor Bond group mailbox and email fax queues. Qualifications Knowledge and Requirements Demonstrate proficiency in the usage of all supplied desktop tools; including the automated underwriting system and email. Display confidence and a willingness to take ownership of a request or problem. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to see the big picture while responding to changing conditions.
